Sprinkler And Irrigation Connections

All lawn sprinkler and irrigation systems
that connect to any North Garland County
water service line, residential or commercial,
shall have in service, a reduced pressure
zone valve.

A reduced pressure zone valve,
(referred to locally as an rpz), is a device
that keeps possibly contaminated water
from lawn sprinkler systems, from entering
back into the potable water supply.

In other words, an rpz is a backflow valve
that keeps your irrigation water, totally
separated from your drinking water.

In the event of a loss of pressure, a
backflow of irrigation water could flow
back into the water service line, and the
main water line. And along with it, would
flow contaminants from that lawn. Just
consider the fertilizers and the poisons
that we all put on our lawns today. If this
contaminated water was introduced back
into the water service lines, when the
water pressure was turned back on,
some of that contaminated water, could
flow right up to your kitchen faucet.

Personally, I prefer to get my nutrients
from other sources.

We at North Garland County Water
spend a lot of time, and hard work,
and a lot of money, delivering to our
member customers treated, clean,
safe, and dependable drinking water,
from one of the cleanest lakes in the
United States.

Reduced pressure zone valves are
necessary to complete the delivery
of this wonderful resource.
